Project RISE: Readiness and Instruction for Supporting Early Intervention
Project RISE: Readiness and Instruction for Supporting Early Intervention will prepare a total of 16 highly qualified professionals in Early Intervention (EI) concentration for the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Early Education and Care in Inclusive Settings (EECIS) program to work with infants and toddlers with disabilities at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston), an urban Minority-Serving Institution (MSI).
Project RISE aims to increase the number of fully credentialed personnel to serve young children with disabilities and their families (Focus Area A). Upon completion, scholars will be eligible to apply for Provisional Certification with Advanced Standing (PCAS) in EI from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH). They will be eligible to work in early childhood settings and Part C EI programs.
Project RISE will prepare personnel to help address identified needs for personnel with the knowledge and skills to promote high expectations and provide effective evidence-based interventions and services that improve outcomes for children with disabilities.
Design Concept: The Helix of Inclusion and Hope
This design is rooted in a multicultural perspective, featuring a diverse group of children and an educator to represent the project’s mission of preparing racially and ethnically diverse personnel.
Artistically, it synthesizes Western Mondrian-inspired colors (representing the precision of evidence-based intervention) with Eastern ink-style fluidity (representing the dynamic nature of early childhood growth). The upward-spiraling dots symbolize the core theme of RISE, the positive outcomes and potential fulfilled through effective early intervention.
